Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born July 8, 1989 in Paris. At the age of five and moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was aspired to be a professional actress since she was six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school with part-time courses. Through a school play as well as the stage of a Stagecoach production, Emma was the lead at the age 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were cast as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's screen debut was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The film is 2001's top production, and it broke records during the opening day and the very first weekend. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performances by the three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Emma later won five awards to honor her role in the movie.
